The Belt and Road Art Talent Training Program 2022, a Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship program organized by Shanghai Conservatory of Music (SHCM) under the support of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, is scheduled to be held online during the period from June to September 2022. As part of the SHCM’s efforts to promote its international education, this Program is developed based on the Conservatory’s advantages and features, with the aim of offering a chance for international students to experience Chinese culture.
Theme
Built on the success of the past three sessions of the Belt and Road Art Talent Training Program since its initiation in 2018, this year’s event will present a series of activities centered on traditional Chinese music and culture, in a bid to enhance international participants’ understanding on and stimulate their interest in Chinese art and culture in a multi-dimensional manner. Meanwhile, it will also serve as a bridge through which international participants can show their rich, colorful music culture to Chinese students. It is through such exchange that we come to understand different cultures, which in turn is conducive to cultural communication and development.
Time and Activities
Time: July – September 2022
Activities: Special lectures on music presented by prestigious professors at SHCM’s Department of Chinese Traditional Instruments; cultural lecture series by experts specialized in relevant fields; student forums and seminars; and a gala concert for participants to show the music and culture of their home countries.
The 2022 edition of this Program will be delivered online.
Enrollment Quota
The Belt and Road Art Talent Training Program 2022 is open to international students and scholars between the ages of 16 to 45. Participants must be non-Chinese citizens residing outside China. The Program is expected to enroll 18 qualified applicants.
Admission decision will be made by SHCM’s International Education Division after reviewing the application materials. The Entrants List will be posted on the webpage: https://www.shcmusic.edu.cn/1659/list.htm

Application Period: June 6th-30th, 2022
How to Apply: Application should be made online via the website: admission.shcmusic.edu.cn. Please read the attached Online Application Instructions carefully before making an application.
Documents to Be Uploaded for the Online Application:
A scanned copy of the photo page of the applicant’s valid passport
An ID photo and a casual life photo
Schooling Certificate or Graduation Certificate
A Curriculum Vitae (in Chinese or English)
Fees
The application fee and tuition under this Program will be covered by the Shanghai Government Scholarship; other expenses should be borne by the participants themselves.
Application Procedures and Special Notes
Application should be made online via the designated webpage. Pleases fill in the application form in Chinese or English as required.
The Admission Notice will be sent via email. Please provide accurate email information in the application form.
Successful applicants should complete online registration process on the date designated in the Admission Notice. Those who can’t register on time for due reasons should negotiate with the International Education Division of the SHCM in advance.
All the application materials submitted will not be returned.
