SCHM team attends Berklee summit in US, visits Canada college

Shanghai Conservatory of Music Vice President Hou Liyu and four other faculty members attended the Berklee Global Summit in the United States and visited Sheridan College in Canada between June 17 and 24.

The summit, unveiled on June 18, lasted for three days, during which Hou communicated with Lawrence Simpson, senior vice president for Academic Affairs at Berklee College of Music, and officials from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee on stepping forward to build a project together.

Hou talked about the progress of Shangyin Opera construction and the subsequent performance schedule while inviting the experts to attend the first meeting of the SHCM’s international artists’ committee in December.

The SHCM delegation then went to Sheridan College in Canada, which boasts many outstanding musicals.

Both parties discussed cooperation on mutual visits by faculties and students, and joint drama rehearsals of graduate performances as well as original shows “Come from Away” and “Bethune”.

The SHCM team also toured the school’s facilities like the theater, classrooms and lessons of ballet and musical singing and performing.
