Shanghai Conservatory of Music Party Secretary Lin Zaiyong received Professor Anna Reid, head of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and other teaching faculty on May 13.
Lin appreciated the school’s support during the SHCM’s tour of the original opera “Tang Xianzu the Playwright” in Sydney and offered suggestions on substantial collaboration between the two institutions.
He called for more mutual visits by students, and suggested cultivating their ability to take in knowledge in different fields and broadening their artistic view for comprehensive accomplishment. The joint work can fall in the categories of music and drama, folk music and music theory.
Reid said that the Sydney Conservatorium of Music has been dedicated to the diversity of music in the world and would love to work together with SHCM to bring up more international music talent. She looked forward to moving onto the next stage in their bilateral cooperation.
The Sydney group included Matthew Hindson, deputy dean of SCM; Rowena Cowley, director of Vocal Department; expert on music technology Benjamin Carey; and Pipa musician Lulu Liu, with the former three also communicating with SHCM teachers and students on music and related topics.
