Shanghai Conservatory of Music President Liao Changyong and Deputy Party Secretary Liu Yan met with Adil Abdulmohsen AlMandeel, adviser to the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia, on March 26.
Extending a warm welcome to the guest, Liao said that Saudi Arabia has a splendid culture and history and has made major progress in modern society.
SHCM founded long ago is an important international music conservatory in China and has been paying close attention to promoting traditional Chinese music as well as music culture in other countries and regions, he added.
It has worked with other music schools in the world and is willing to join hands with similar institutions in Saudi Arabia in terms of mutual visits and resource sharing.
AlMandeel appreciated the reception and said that Saudi Arabia maintains friendly ties with China and was one of the first to respond to the Belt and Road Initiative, as the BRI has a large common ground for the kingdom’s national reform.
He invited an SHCM delegation to visit Saudi Arabia this year and hoped to take solid steps to carry out collaboration with the SHCM over student and teacher exchange and performances.
