SHCM delegation visits San Francisco music conservatory on exchange tour




A Shanghai Conservatory of Music delegation, consisting of 11 members and led by Party Secretary Xie Miaomiao of the Postgraduate Department, went to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music on an exchange tour between April 8 and 12.

A workshop for traditional Chinese folk music instruments was held during the period. SHCM students gave illustration of the tone and skills of playing such instruments.

Executive Director MaryClare Brzytwa of Technology and Applied Composition and Taurin Barrera, studio director of the same branch, attended the event with their SFCM students.

A special concert was staged on April 10 with SHCM students performing folk pieces combining traditional and modern styles.

SFCM President David H. Stull opened the concert with a speech. Consul of the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco and Cultural Counselor Zhai Deyu, SFCM Board Chair Tim Foo and his wife were among those present at the event.
