Lin Zaiyong, Party secretary and president of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, received Professor Péter Tóth, head of Faculty of Music in University of Szeged in Hungary, and his colleagues on October 13.

Lin extended warm welcome to the visitors and gave high comments on China and Hungary’s friendly exchange in culture and art, either in governmental or non-governmental sectors.

SHCM boasts a long history of cooperating with music conservatories in the Eastern Europe. Lin said that he would like to promote an innovative and professional collaboration with the Faculty of Music in opera, composition and string music.

Professor Tóth echoed Lin’s view and briefed the host about the history and departments in his school of music. He said that classic guitar, a key major in the school, could join hands with SHCM’s folk instruments and he would like to invite composers in SHCM to display their new pieces on the school’s annual festival.

Faculty of Music in University of Szeged is an outstanding institute with close connection with music masters like Liszt, Bartók and Kodály. It now has 240 students, including nine international students, studying in prior courses and in programs for bachelor and master degrees.
