International percussion music festival rings down the curtain

2017 Shanghai Conservatory of Music International Percussion Music Festival, also known as the 2nd IPEA International Percussion Music Contest, was successfully concluded in Shanghai Music Hall on the evening of October 6.

The first half of the closing ceremony featured an ensemble contest of professional players. Six groups from domestic and foreign music academies competed with each other with high-level, high-quality performances. Paris Percu from Paris, France walked away with the first prize in this event.

The most impressive of the awarding ceremony is the presenting of the judging panel’s special award. On the opening ceremony, the percussion performance brought by a group of autistic children had moved all the people present. Qixing (Rising Star) Percussion Ensemble, Wangzi (Prince) Percussion Ensemble, and Jiguzhumeng (Drum Dreams) Percussion Ensemble were presented with the special award for their efforts to help autistic children experience the joy of playing percussion.

The Percussion Music Contest had invited 72 judges from home and abroad, drawing over 600 players. A total of five world-class concerts, 52 contests, nine top-level professor and master’s classes had been organized. Seventeen conservatories of music had participated in the event.

The luxury lineup of domestic and foreign judges, the globally top percussion contest regulations and prizes, and internationally renowned masters’ classes, helped the music festival win wide acclaim in the world of music.
