At the invitation of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, a Shanghai Conservatory of Music delegation headed by Vice President Tang Litu visited the school from September 17 to 20. The delegation met with Philip Plowden, vice chancellor of Birmingham City University, which RBC is affiliated to, and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding for setting up official inter-school cooperative relationship.
During the visit, Tang also met with Julian Lloyd Webber and Lamberto Coccioli, RBC’s principal and associate principal and discussed cooperation details. Both parties planned to stage SHCM original opera and musicals in Birmingham. When SHCM Opera House is completed, operas and stage plays of Birmingham will also come to Shanghai. They also discussed faculties and students exchange programs.
Located in the architecture complex of BCU, a new campus of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire was completed and put into operation in August.
The SHCM is also building its opera house and new campus. So, Tang and his colleagues had learned some advanced ideas and experiences in venues building, music laboratory and teaching facilities construction.
