Shanghai Conservatory of Music to deepen cooperation with its Munich counterpart

Shanghai Conservatory of Music President Lin Zaiyong received a delegation headed by Professor Bernd Redmann of University of Music and Performing Arts Munich on September 25.

Lin warmly welcomed Professor Redmann and invited him to attend the 90th anniversary of SHCM. He said that University of Music and Performing Arts Munich is a leading art institute in Germany. It has gained global influence over its long history. Through close cooperation, many SHCM students have pursued their further studies in Munich. Lin hoped that original plays of its Munich counterpart will be staged in the under-construction Opera House of SHCM. Lin also proposed faculties and students exchange programs.

Professor Redmann appreciated the host’s invitation and hospitality. He echoed Lin’s ideas in university development and international cooperation. He also mentioned that his university is the only of the 24 similar ones in Germany that has a traditional music department. He hoped more cooperation will be carried out in traditional and national music with SHCM.

Founded in 1868, University of Music and Performing Arts Munich is one of the oldest and most important art institutes in Germany. It boasts over 50 bachelor’s and master’s programs and six professional training programs.
