Shanghai Conservatory of Music and University of Music and Theater Hamburg signed a cooperation agreement on advanced performer certificate program on June 23.
Officials from the Shanghai Education Commission, SHCM officials and German guests from HfMT attended the signing ceremony.
SHCM President Lin Zaiyong said that the cooperation agreement was a breakthrough in SHCM’s endeavor for internationalization. It will provide valuable experience for SHCM to carry out high-level academic exchange and teaching cooperation with world’s first class conservatories of music.
In his speech, HfMT President Elmar Lampson pointed out that with the establishment of a complete performer certificate system from undergraduate, master to advanced performer in SHCM, the differences in systematic structure between the two universities are narrowing, which will be greatly beneficial to their further cooperation and help promote the training of advanced talents.
SHCM and HfMT are the most important international partners of each other. In the past 10 years, the two universities have been working together to explore fruitful cooperation models and developed a series of high-level programs, such as the one-year “international master’s program” and exchange students program, which started with the string music major and have now extended to piano, composing, and wind music.
HfMT was founded in 1950, and is now a renowned national conservatory of music in Europe. It offers courses in classical music, Jazz music and theatre. Some of its traditionally strong disciplines like piano and string music are the leaders in the music world.
