A memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation is signed among the attending representatives at the end of the presidents’ forum held in Kazakhstan.
President Lin Zaiyong of Shanghai Conservatory of Music was invited to attend the 2017 “Great Silk Road: the Interaction of Eastern and Western Culture,” the presidents’ forum of music institutions and relevant activities held in Kazakhstan from June 12 to 14.
The forum was hosted by Kazakh National University of Arts as a part of the 2017 Astana Expo: Future Energy, which focused on the conservation and development of traditional culture; extension of musical heritages; and promotion of arts as the power of the future.
The attending delegations came from China, Russia, Italy, Belarus, Turkey, Korea and a few other countries.
Alman Mussakhajayeva, famous violinist and rector of Kazakh National University of Arts, exchanged ideas with President Lin on further cooperation and was invited to attend SHCM’s 90th anniversary.
Over the three-day stay there, Lin gave a speech addressing the cultural ties and friendly connections among the Silk Road countries. He said that it was most important for the music institutions to join hands and share information to better preserve the music heritages and create a brighter future.
Lin gave high comments on talent cultivating programs in Kazakh National University of Arts and hoped that the artists of the university can come and see Shanghai.
Upon the end of the forum, representatives signed a framework memorandum to build a European and Asian cultural league.
