SHCM to cultivate chamber music masters with Vienna counterpart




Wang Rui, vice president of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, headed a delegation to attend the celebration of the 200th anniversary of University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna on June 5.

Ulrike Sych, president of UMPAV, welcomed Wang and his delegation, and expressed her appreciation for the cooperation and the exchanges with SHCM. They reached an agreement of cultivating masters of chamber music in SHCM and Wang expressed his hope of furthering the cooperation with UMPAV and other renowned European conservatories in building a world-class chamber music discipline in SHCM.

On June 6, Wang and his delegation attended the anniversary celebration concert, at which Austrian President Alexander Van Der Bellen gave a speech.

On June 7, Wang and his delegation attended a symposium themed on the future of the higher education of music and performing arts.

Lan Hancheng, professor of the Orchestra Department of SHCM, and Ma Xiaoming, translator of International Exchange Office of SHCM, also attended the activities.

Established in 1817, UMPAV is the largest institution of its kind in Austria and it formed strategic partnership with SHCM in 2007.
