Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Berklee College of Music from USA signed a memorandum to establish SHCM-BCM Contemporary Music Institute at a ceremony held at SHCM on May 26.

Lin Zaiyong, president of SHCM, and Lawrence Simpson, vice chairman of BCM, signed the memorandum of understanding on behalf of the two esteemed music schools.

Ye Xiaogang, chairman of China Musician Association, will be the honorary chairman of the new institute. Lin handed out the appointment certificate to Ye at the signing ceremony.

A jazz group of 25 musicians from the two music schools held a series of concerts in Xi’an, Wuhan, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Shanghai between June 14 and 23.
