Liu Yan, deputy Party secretary of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, visited the University of British Columbia, School of Music in Canada, and Berklee College of Music in USA from April 9 to 16.

At UBC School of Music, Liu met its president Richard Kurth, and exchanged with professors from keyboard, compositions, electronic music, and performance departments, and reached consensus with professors and students from UBS School of Music in piano performance, musicology, and chamber music.

At Berklee College of Music, Liu met its faculties such as Matthew Nocholl, associate vice president, Lawrance Simpson, senior vice president for Academic Affairs, Camille Colatosti, dean of graduate studies, and Joe Bennett, vice president of academic affairs for Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Also, SHCM signed a memorandum of cooperation with BCM to have comprehensive cooperation.

During the visit Liu also met alumni of SHCM in UBC School of Music and BCM.
