Launched in May 2016, the grant program has enabled many outstanding students to participate in important competitions at home and abroad and to produce their own musicals and operas.

Fan Zengyue, a student of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Middle School, won the first prize in the 2016 Los Angeles Young Musician International Competition. An SHCM string quartet led by Chen Jiayi won the Best Chamber Music Performance award in the summer music academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.

Musicals and operas created and performed by SHCM students also enjoyed wide popularity in Shanghai. Four students specialized in musicology and criticism received national awards in various competitions.

The grant program is now inviting new applicants with a focus on short-term overseas studies and sponsorships for talented students and music groups.
