Student concert marks World Poetry Day

Students perform songs of classic Chinese poems in traditional qipao dress.

The Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Pudong Library held a concert of poetic songs on March 18, 2017 to celebrate the World Poetry Day and promote the traditional art of Chinese poetry.

Poetry, prose and fiction are the three major forms of literature. Rhythmic poems are beautiful in reading and singing, said Yang Sai, an SHCM teacher and the concert presenter.

Most performers are Chinese and foreign students and their works were composed in class. Literary experts from Fudan University, Shanghai University and Shanghai Theatre Academy were invited as commentators.
