German opera director becomes visiting professor


Reinhard Linden receives an appointment letter from Liu Yan at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music last November.


SHCM Deputy Party Secretary Liu Yan met Reinhard Linden, artistic director of Kiel Opera House in Kiel, Germany, on November 18, and invited him as the visiting professor of the conservatory.

Linden had taught the SHCM students in the Voice and Opera Department for the performance of “Così Fan Tutte” by Mozart. Because of his dedication and experiences in opera directing, the conservatory decided to hire him as a visiting professor to direct opera rehearsals and performances.

The German musician had studied under master conductors Claudio Abbado and Franco Ferrara.  He was appointed the artistic director of Kiel Opera House in 2006. It is a famous opera house with a history of 110 years.
