Gary Karr, the noted American double bass player and teacher, was invited to give a concert and master class during the SHCM International String Music Festival on December 21 and 22, 2015.

Before the start of his class, SHCM Vice President Zhang Xianping met Karr and thanked him for teaching Chinese students at the conservatory. He also awarded Karr with a letter appointing him as the honorary professor of the SHCM.

Karr said it was his first time to teach at the SHCM. He found the campus full of life and opportunities and he was motivated by the enthusiasm of Chinese professors and students in pursuit of music art.

Time magazine described Karr as one of the world’s best bassists. The American musician is a famous double bass soloist with a big following in the world.
