French composer Murail teaches SHCM master class
The SHCM Vice President Liao Changyong and the Dean of Composition Department Ye Guohui had a meeting with the world-renowned composer Tristan Murail on December 8, 2016.
Murail came to give lessons to the master class of the conservatory as the SHCM visiting professor.
The French composer is known for his “Spectral” technique of composition. He graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies with Bachelor degrees in Classical Arabic and Economics. Murail then studied music from Olivier Messiean and has been a composition professor at Columbia University since 1997.
