Midori Goto becomes guest professor of SHCM


Lin Zaiyong confers a certificate of guest professorship to Midori Goto.


Shanghai Conservatory of Music President Lin Zaiyong and Professor Yu Lina met Japanese-American violinist Midori Goto in June 2015. Yu is a renowned Chinese violinist.

Midori was invited to give lessons and a performance at the SHCM Affiliated Middle School.

Lin thanked Midori for her contribution to the conservatory and presented her with a certificate of guest professorship.

Midori was born in Japan and made her debut at the age of 11 and was selected by Zubin Mehta, conductor of the New York Philharmonic, for the 1982 New Year’s Eve concert. At age 21, she founded a non-profit organization, Midori and Friends, to bring music education to children in New York City and Japan. She was appointed UN Messenger of Peace in 2007 and received the prestigious Crystal Award at the Davos Forum in 2012.
