With the reforms and opening up of China and improving comprehensive national strength, Shanghai, as a world-renowned international metropolis, has become a prior study destination of more and more overseas students. Adjacent to the Huaihai Road M. commercial center and with a convenient transportation, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music boasts for distinct music education features, rich culture and profound professional advantages. Since the establishment, the SHCM has attracted more than 1,000 overseas students who have studied 22 disciplines in 14 departments, covering folk music, composition, piano performance, orchestral instruments performance, musicology, music education, music engineering and arts management.
We now recruit overseas students studying for degrees of bachelor, master and doctor and those studying for advanced courses, short-term courses and exchange programs. Graduates of our school have won wide acclaims and have worked on important positions in art groups, educational institutions and cultural departments. Some have become chief players in art troupes and officials of cultural departments, contributing to cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. The SHCM offers scholarships issued by the Chinese central government and Shanghai municipal government. An office for overseas students has been set up to take charge of recruitment, training and management of overseas students and provide them with services in life and study.
After decades of development, we have made outstanding achievements in recruitment of overseas students, discipline development, tutors’ team building, academic atmosphere and education and management system of overseas students. We will explore and practice international education and achieve new progress in overseas students education while recruiting more overseas students.
