Non-Degree Music Program

1. Course descriptions

General non-degree students can choose any one of the available undergraduate programs. Advanced non-degree students can choose any one of the available graduate programs. Music lessons are taught on one-to-one basis once a week. Non-degree students can also register for no more than five elective courses and attend the classes with Chinese students. Elective lessons are taught in Chinese.

2. General Requirements

(1) General non-degree students should have a high school diploma or above and a Non-Chinese passport.

(2)Advanced non-degree students should have a Master’s degree certificate or above and a Non-Chinese passport.

3. Documents Required for Application

A copy of your passport
Degree/graduation certificate

Supplemental application materials (e.g. music recordings). Materials in CD or DVD formats (up to 20 minutes) are required for application for the performing arts program.

Recommendation letter
Three photos (35mm×53mm)

Medical certificate (optional if study length is less than 6 months)

Application fee

※Please submit the above documents by mail to SHCM International Students Office. Documents submitted will not be returned. Application fees paid are non-refundable.

※Application fee can be sent by mail with the application documents or paid by bank transfer. Applicant’s full name and the payment certificate should be submitted in case of payment by bank transfer.

 4. Enrollment Procedure

a) Upon verification of the application documents, applicants who pass the entrance examination and satisfy the Chinese language requirements will receive an admission notice to SHCM and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202).

b) International students should apply for a visa at the Embassy/Consulate of People’s Republic of China with their admission notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202).

c) Newly-admitted students should register and pay the tuition at SHCM International Students Office on the date specified in the admission notice. Students who cannot register on time under exceptional circumstances should submit their applications for deferred admission to the International Students Office and change their registration date upon approval.

5. Application and Enrollment Timeline (Non-degree programs are scheduled twice a year.)

Fall semester: application can be made at any time before June 10 and the program begins in September.

Spring semester: application can be made at any time before December 10 and the program begins in February or March of next year.

6. Study Length

Non-degree Music Program lasts one to two years. Students who pass the final examination will receive a non-degree certificate.
