Brief Introduction of the Speaker:

Liu Hong: Doctor of Folk Musicology; Post Doctor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong; Professor of the SHCM Musicology Department; Vice Director of the SHCM Ritual Music Research Center; Vice Editor-in-chief of Journal "Dayin"

Liu has taught in the Wuhan Conservatory of Music, University of San Francisco, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Huaqiao University and Shandong Normal University. Devoted to the researches on traditional Chinese music culture, Liu has published over 10 books and tens of essays on core academic journals.

Content:

The lecture faces all students of the SHCM and is given in English. It will offer foreign students an opportunity to better understand the traditional Chinese culture by comparing music cultures from different nations, including folk songs, ethnic musical instruments, rap music and traditional opera music.
