SHCM officials meet visitor from Mount Royal University Conservatory

Liu Yan, deputy Party secretary of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, met Brad M. Mahon, visiting director of the Mount Royal University Conservatory in Calgary, Canada, on March 27, 2017.

She briefed the guest on the history, achievements and future planning of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

Liu said the Shanghai Conservatory of Music has cooperated with the Mount Royal University Conservatory since 1997 through the Morningside Music Bridge program. She hoped the two schools can increase exchanges and cooperation between their faculties and students.

Liu also introduced the middle school affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and learned about the teaching system at the middle school of the Mount Royal University Conservatory. The two sides shared each other’s experiences.

Liu welcomed Canadian students of the Mount Royal University Conservatory to participate in the SHCM summer program to study Chinese music and culture.

Mahon thanked Liu for her warm reception and talked about his school’s history and current development. He also introduced the summer program of his conservatory and invited the SHCM students, including those at the affiliated middle school, to join.

Mahon expressed his hope for more cooperation between the two conservatories.

Liu Ying, headmaster of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Middle School, and Chen Xiaoyi, the SHCM director of international exchanges, were present at the meeting.
