Shanghai Conservatory of Music President Lin Zaiyong met UCLA Confucius Institute Director Susan Pertel Jain on June 24, 2016.
Lin said he hoped the SHCM and the University of California Los Angeles can reach an agreement for cooperation in education, student and faculty exchanges, as well as collaboration in workshops and concerts.
Jain told Lin about her institute’s various programs, including academic research on Dunhuang, the Silk Road town famous for its ancient grottoes with Buddhist murals and sculptures, which is in trend with China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
Lin praised Jain’s efforts to promote Chinese culture and hoped the two institutions can work out a detailed plan for cooperation.
SHCM Vice President Zhang Xianping, Professor Xiao Mei, and Director of International Exchanges Chen Xiaoyi joined the meeting.
