German professor honored for his role at SHCM

Professor Elmar Lampson, president of the Hamburg School of Music and Theater paid a three-day visit to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in March 2016, accompanied by his wife Alexandra Lampson and Professor Chen Xiaoyong.

He came at the invitation of the conservatory to give a lecture to the masters’ class and take part in other academic activities.

The two schools have cooperated for decades in offering Master’s degree programs, exchanging students and teachers, and organizing contemporary music concerts.

the Hamburg School of Music and Theater plans to invite some SHCM teachers and students to give concerts and lectures in Hamburg during their Chinese Culture Festival and select two Chinese students to join a symphony orchestra made up mainly of German and American students.

SHCM President Lin Zaiyong presented Professor Lampson with an honorary professor appointment letter in recognition of his contributions to music education and cooperation between the two schools over the years.

Founded in 1950 as the State University of Music, the Hamburg School of Music and Theater has produced numerous internationally-acclaimed artists and lecturers. It is one of the best music schools in the world.
