RNCM guests discuss cooperation with SHCM

Paul Goodey-Avedisyan, vice principal of Royal Northern College of Music, and Yu Le, a percussion lecturer from the college, visited Shanghai Conservatory of Music on October 22, 2015.

Zhang Xianping, vice president of the conservatory, received the duo.

The two music schools inked cooperation agreements in 2007 and carried out exchange programs such as orchestral music master classes and workshops in the following years.

Goodey and Zhang discussed cooperation in orchestral music, piano, percussions and vocal majors. They also discussed specific exchange programs such as school official visits, performance exchange, guest professors and SHCM students’ study tours and practice programs in RNCM.

RNCM was founded at Manchester in 1893 as the Royal Manchester College of Music. The Northern School of Music was founded in 1920. The two music schools merged into RNCM in 1973.

Now RNCM has 320 students and employees from more than 60 countries.
