Shanghai Conservatory of Music Deputy Party Secretary Liu Yan met Dr. Chinthaka Prageeth Meddegoda from University of the Visual and Performing Arts of Sri Lanka on November 29.
Liu warmly welcomed Meddegoda and said that communication between the two sides will help promote cultural exchanges between China and Sri Lanka, which are both Belt and Road countries.
Liu hoped that the two sides will sign a memorandum of inter-school cooperation to launch a wide range of projects including student and teacher exchanges, academic forums and summer vacation exchange programs.
Meddegoda agreed to expand cooperation with SHCM and he hoped that SHCM will offer more academic support in professions such as music theories.
University of the Visual and Performing Arts was established in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2005. The university consists of three faculties, Dance and Drama, Music and Visual Arts. There are 22 departments functioning under these three faculties. It is the only university offering professional degree courses of visual and perform arts in Sri Lanka.
