SHCM president meets representatives of two major musical publishers in the world

Shanghai Conservatory of Music Party Secretary and President Lin Zaiyong met with Asia-Pacific representative and executive president of Universal Edition and Breitkopf & Härtel, two of the world’s major musical publishers, respectively on October 9 and 10.

Lin extended warm welcome to the two guests and briefed them on SHCM’s cooperation with German music academies.

Lin said that with powerful support from the two publishers, modern Chinese music can be heard around the world. 

The two guests appreciated the friendly reception. They told their host their history and current development and were glad to publicize Chinese music.

Universal Edition was founded in 1901 and was the main publisher for composers in the last century; Breitkopf & Härtel on the other hand, was born in 1719 and is the world’s oldest house that releases musical works.

The latter also owns a huge collection of music-related books and score versions and laid foundation for orchestra and chamber music literature collection.
