SHCM and Guangxi Arts University to jointly host 2021 contemporary music festival

Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Guangxi Arts University won the right on May 25 to hold the 2021 International Society for Contemporary Music event.

Deputy Director Wen Deqing of SHCM Composition Department was responsible for the application work and attended the examination session in Beijing.

After admission to the society, SHCM is not only qualified for hosting the event in 2021, but can also submit six music pieces each year. The entry to the ISCM database and network is also granted.   

Founded in Salzburg in1922, ISCM is the world’s first association that aims to promote and communicate on modern music. It now has 82 members in five continents. ISCM requires hosts of such music events to have financial strength, experience, adequate facilities for music performance and excellent cultural environment.

Jointly hosted by SHCM and Guangxi Arts University, the 2021 music festival will feature “fusion” and will run from September 17 to 24. A series of concerts, lectures and seminars are presented during the festival.
