Director Cristina Frosini of Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano visited Shanghai Conservatory of Music on May 24 and was received by the school’s Party Secretary and President Lin Zaiyong and Vice President Liao Changyong.
Lin gave a warm welcome to Professor Frosini for her visit to discuss about the two schools’ future collaboration and exchanges in the field of opera.
SHCM has a clear strategy and goal for development and strives to level with top music educational institutions in the world. In areas such as string music, modern music and chamber music, it has established long-term partnership with some of these premium academies, said Lin.
He said that Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano is no doubt one of the best in the field of opera and its achievements are heard around the world. As SHCM plays a significant role in developing opera in China and is building an opera house for the cause, it is ideal for the two schools to join hands and promote the art and performance of opera.
Director Frosini agreed with Lin and expressed that Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano as well respects SHCM’s artistic accomplishment over the past century. She hoped to carry out quality cooperation in opera with SHCM and invited President Lin and Vice President Liao to visit Milan someday.
Lin also showed his guest the SHCM opera house under construction and briefed about the design and construction progress of the project.
