SHCM and Oberlin Conservatory of Music seek closer cooperation

Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Oberlin Conservatory of Music of the United States signed a cooperation agreement on Thursday.

SHCM Party Secretary and President Lin Zaiyong sealed the agreement with Oberlin Dean Dr. Andrea Kalyn. 

Lin said the relationship between the two conservatories can date back to more than 80 years ago when theChinese musician and musical educator Huang Zi studied in Oberlin. A world influential music academy, Oberlin has also cultivated Du Yun, a composer and former SHCM student to become a Pulitzer winner.

The new agreement will bring the schools closer in a new round of exchange in students and faculties.

Dr. Kalyn spoke highly of her visit to SHCM and the agreement signed this time. The dean said that students from China made important contributions to Oberlin’s development and she looked forward to the in-depth cooperation in the two schools’ disciplines.
