Shanghai Conservatory of Music Party Secretary and President Lin Zaiyong and Deputy President Liao Changyong met Professor Hartmut Höll, head of Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe on May 10.
President Lin warmly welcomed Professor Hartmut Höll and thanked him for his many visits here to instruct the voice and opera students.
Over the past century, SHCM has done much work in different fields to push forward music development in China and innovation of the conservatory disciplines. Hopefully, the joint efforts of the two schools will help bring Chinese and German music to a new high, Lin added.
Lin also pointed out that SHCM has clearly defined its positioning and goal in development, seeking opportunities to jointly launch high-level projects with international institutes. He expected a mutual acceptance of course credits in the two schools and closer cooperation with Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe in student and faculty exchange, opera, stage art and music engineering.
Deputy President Liao briefed the guests on SHCM’s achievements over the years. SHCM’s opera house is to be completed and the school’s original opera “Tang Xianzu” has successfully finished tour performance in Europe.
Professor Höll said that he felt like home each time he arrived at SHCM and praised SHCM students’ open vision and passion for music. He believed that the cooperation on the disciplines is only the foundation for broader cooperation in the future and would like to draft and sign a framework memo to promote the work.
He also invited Lin and Liao to visit Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe in the future.
