SHCM students win top prizes at international vocal competition

The 15th American Singer International Vocal Competition (China) concluded in Guangzhou on March 30. Shanghai Conservatory of Music students Xi Yu and Huang Chuting won the first and second prizes at the competition respectively.

Also at the award ceremony, SHCM junior student Xu Junshuo received the letter of admission to University of Nebraska at Kearney in the United States.

The competition, held by American Classical Music and Art Performance Association and Xinghai Conservatory of Music, attracted more than 300 participants.

They competed in the six groups of classical vocal, musical and different ages. Only 47 of them entered the final.

The judge panel consisted of experienced vocal educators and professors from a dozen music conservatories including Eastman School of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, New England Conservatory of Music and University of Minnesota–Twin Cities.
