A bird’s eye view of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
The Shanghai Conservatory of Music will be granted with special support from the municipal government for building a high-level college.
Other academies on the list to get the government support include Shanghai University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Each of the school has a specifically designed policy for development.
According to the notice, these schools can sign up for their first-class discipline construction, which will be funded by the city government.
The SHCM will grab the chance and integrate with its own strength to complete its layout, covering over 20 projects in discipline construction, faculty and talent cultivation and international exchange, within the year of 2018.
Generally the conservatory sets out to become one of the top music education institutes in the world by 2027. The first-class discipline construction contains Music and Dance, Artistic Theory and Drama and Film.
Diversified talent mechanism will be put in work to introduce and build a high level faculty as well as raising music talents.
Music curriculums will be completed with enhanced practice. Joint education with foreign institutes will be highlighted as well. The school will also pilot a new degree for senior musical performers.
Artistic research and creation will both be placed as important work to carry on for the conservatory. It will also promote multiple events like concerts, music weeks and performance projects for innovation in music.
Infrastructure like a smart campus and hardware upgrade will catch up in the meantime.
