Four SHCM students win awards at the 2018 Denny Award International Electronic Music Competition

The 2018 Denny Award International Electronic Music Competition, held by University of Denver and Joseph and Loretta Law Institute of Arts and Technology, concluded successfully at Denver’s Newman Center on February 18.

Shanghai Conservatory of Music students Deng Jiaming, Gao Tianyu, Yuan Dongya and Zhao Ziyi all won awards at the competition. They were all instructed by Associate Professor Liu Hao.

The Denny Award promotes art-combined works of innovative electronic music, film music and bands worldwide. It also encourages musicians to excel in culturally diversified areas and upgrade music technologies.

It covers three competition groups, namely MIDI & Audio - Electronic Music, Film Scoring with Electronic Music / Visual Arts and Electronic Music Band.

The award had a judge panel consisting of electronic music composers, technology developers and educators and was supported by Stanford University, University of California, Los Angeles and University of Southern California.
