SHCM President Lin Zaiyong receives President Roberto Díaz of the Curtis Institute of Music.

President Lin Zaiyong of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music received President Roberto Díaz of the Curtis Institute of Music on March 21.

Lin expressed warm welcome to President Díaz’s visit and gave high comment on the friendship between the SHCM and the Curtis Institute of Music.

Curtis is a world’s leading musical education institution, which poses great influence amid its long history and unique teaching principles, Lin said. As the SHCM is growing rapidly and strives to expand its research in the Chinese modern music development and symphony, Lin also extended his wishes for collaboration of the two schools in the field.

President Díaz said he was glad to visit the SHCM again and would like to further discuss on the two-party cooperation in the future.

Students in Curtis are placed in a broad context to learn about art and music and that’s why the institution has been holding themed year events featuring different countries, cities and artists. In the 2019-2020 school year, it hopes to kick off a “China year” event with activities in Chinese literature, poetry and music and the SHCM is invited to work on the project together.

In such joint work Lin hoped to be actively engaged so as to present rich and advanced Chinese culture and art in the process.
