Professor Liu Hong on the stage explaining and analyzing Chinese folk song features at China Culture Center in Moscow.
Professor Liu Hong, director of the Asian and European Music Research Center at Shanghai Conservatory of Music, was invited to visit Russia between February 17 and 24, kicking off the center’s academic events this year.
He gave lectures at Confucius Institute of Saint Petersburg State University and China Culture Center in Moscow and explained to the audience the history, current status and social and cultural functions of Chinese folk songs.
Professor Liu’s vivid interpretation accompanied by plenty of visual materials appealed to audience and triggered heated discussions.
Head of Confucius Institute of Saint Petersburg State University showed interest in further cooperation with the Asian and European Music Research Center after Professor Liu’s visit.
The event was reported by Russian BRICS-TV and made into a special program by China Culture Center in Moscow.
Previously Liu gave academic lectures and led SHCM folk music bands to Osaka, Japan in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
