Shanghai Conservatory of Music and China Record (Shanghai) Co Ltd signed a strategic cooperation agreement yesterday.
The two parties will jointly build a China’s Voice Archive and a Voice Art Innovation Center. A “SHCM” brand will also be established to release Chinese music works abroad.
SHCM issued an album set “Historical Recordings Collection about SHCM” to commemorate its 90th anniversary this year. The records contain valuable performances by SHCM teachers or students from 1930s to 1960s, which were stored in the company’s old records protection project database.
Based on the project, SHCM and China Record will invite experts to dig into the resources, including 130,000 record’s metal templates and 45,000 tapes, and build the voice archive.
The SHCM brand will then be used to issue works created or performed by the conservatory’s masters, teachers and students. First products will be released on the MIDEM, the International B2B Music Market held in Cannes in June, 2018.
