President Lin Zaiyong of Shanghai Conservatory of Music met Professor Johannes Meissl, director of Joseph Haydn Department of Chamber, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW) on December 8 and appointed him as a guest professor of the conservatory.
Chamber music has been a key major in SHCM and the cooperation with MDW would enhance the teaching in the field, Lin said.
He also expressed his wishes for more support from Professor Meissl so that the collaboration between the two parties will become a routine mechanism.
Founded in 1817, MDW is the largest public higher music education institute in Austria and the oldest music and art college in Europe. It has made exemplary work in the field of music creation, performance and music education.
Strategic partnership between SHCM and MDW started in 2006 and Professor Meissl has been introduced as expert on chamber music since 2016.
