As the first Chinese female soprano to perform the heroine in an opera movie, her role in director Frédéric Mitterrand and conductor James Conlon’s film Madama Butterfly won her world fames. She has performed on world stages including the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Cologne Opera and Chinese National Grand Theater. She has played leading roles in operas including the Marriage of Figaro, L'elisir D'amore and Rigoletto. Huang has cooperated with New York Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra as well as conductors such as James Levine, Christoph Eschenbach and Charles Dutoit. As the ambassador of cultural exchanges between China and the West, Huang was also invited frequently to perform for the world’s celebration events such as the Vienna Christmas Concert in 1997 with co-performers such as Michael Bolton and Opera master José Plácido Domingo Embil and the opening performance of Shanghai Grand Theater with co-performer Tenor Jose Carreras. Huang’s voice is soft and sweet and she is also well-skilled and has an authentic music style. Her performances are widely praised by opera performers, audiences and media. She now enjoys a high fame in the international music circle and has the nickname of “a nightingale flying from China.”
