Lin Zaiyong, president of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, signed a memorandum of understanding with Roberto Diaz, president of the Curtis Institute of Music, on May 25, 2015 for school cooperation.

Diaz, who is a world-renowned violist, was invited to give a Master class to students of the SHCM Music School. Lin presented him a certificate of honorary professorship in recognition of his contribution to music education of the conservatory.

Lin said the SHCM and Curtis should learn from each other and cooperate more closely.

Diaz agreed with Lin and said he hoped the two schools can put their ideas into reality. He also gave his thoughts on music education and school management and discussed cooperation details with the SHCM officials.

Set up in 1924 by Mary Louise Curtis Bok, the Curtis Institute of Music has produced exceptionally gifted musicians and provides full-tuition scholarships to all students to make sure admissions are based solely on artistic promise.
