David H. Stull and Lin Zaiyong talk about cooperation between San Francisco and Shanghai conservatories.
President David H. Stull of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Lin Zaiyong, Party secretary of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music had a meeting on March 26, 2015 to discuss exchange and cooperation programs.
The two music schools have been holding chamber music festivals in each other’s city every year since they established ties in 2010.
The two leaders agreed to introduce short-term exchange programs and artist-in-residence programs for their faculties and students to stimulate artistic creation. Achievements of these programs shall be shown every year or two in concerts.
They also considered introducing long-term degree programs for each other’s students. SHCM will hold a summer camp for SFCM students to teach them Chinese instrumental music. The two schools will also cooperate in new media and music technology.
The San Francisco Conservatory of Music was founded in 1917 and is the oldest music school on the West Coast. Its famous alumni include Yehudi Menuhin, Isaac Stern, and Jeffrey Alan Kahane.
